Civilize The Culture (Interlude)

Civilize The Culture (Interlude)

(Album: Hip Hop Frontline - 2019)

Yo, man
We in a serious crisis right now
Streets is dried up
Everyone's running to the record industry to try and get a record deal
Unfortunately at this present time, it's more rappers than it's fans
Everybody's a rapper
Everybody wanna be in the spotlight
Man, I be meeting some bad females
"Hey Slay, what's going on?"
"What's up, love?"
"When you gon' let me come on your show?"
"Come on your show to do what?"
You understand?
Your best friend, he won't even purchase your album because
He rap too and he think he better than you
Not to mention there's not a record deal available for everyone
So what happens to the brothers and sisters who don't make it out here?
Where do they turn to?
Where do they go after the fact?
Kids is dropping out of school, quitting their jobs
And basically ready to sell their soul to become a rapper
But what we really need right now
Are more doctors, lawyers, attorneys, and even judges
Not to mention, it don't even matter if you're not talented anymore
The corporate cats just look for popularity over talent
And that's why the level of ignorance is so far beyond in the business
But keep in mind, I'm a strong believer that everything revolves three-hundred and sixty degrees
Just as the world spins on its axis
And sooner or later, hip-hop will overcome this blind state that it's currently in
I'm not mad at anyone for chasing their dreams
But I was taught to be the best at my own talent
And not the worst at anyone else's
