The Leaving

The Leaving

(album: The 31st Of February Street - 1974)

She came to me and stood there, not knowing how to start
The tear that shone upon her face almost broke my heart
You see I love her

She tried to speak, to say the things that still remain unsaid
The tears were flowing freely down her face, I had to turn my head
Because I love her

She wants to leave, I know she does,
But she can't find the words, I couldn't help her
How can I when I feel this way?
There's nothing in the world that I could say to help her

Her tiny hands were trembling, her suitcase by her side
She seemed to turn away to go, and through these tears I cried
I knew I love her

So ends another love song, but this one means much more
It's really quite ironical but I never thought before
To say I love her

Oh she wants to leave, I know she does
But she can't find the words, I couldn't help her
How can I when I feel this way?
There's nothing in the world that I could say to help her
