Praying For July

I spend January replanting lilies
And I spend February tearing them out of the ground
I spend March setting fire to my wood
And I spend April sucking ice cubes to calm it down

In May, I learn that I'm a gentle lover boiling over and
June, I spend my time scrubbing myself of wanting closure
July was the time I learned to hold my breath
And in August my friends taught me
It's okay to breathe along with them

September was a blur, part of me is in October
I spend November wondering what heaven looks like
And although, it was a New Year's resolution to live in the moment
And know that next December
I'll be praying for it to be
