Ragin' Ray And Jin

Ragin' Ray And Jin

(album: Alkatraz - 2020)

So how did all this madness begin?

Well
I knew this gent, we called him "Raymond the Rich"
And when he came onto the scene you'd either cower or ditch
The silent, stone-faced heir to countless riches that preceded him
A scholar you could never dethrone, all seven feet of him
I understand the man had plenty going for him, 'till a
Mysterious inferno took his family and fortune
The furious but calm, collected "Ray the Ex-Heir"
Now lives an unprotected life without a penny to spare
And who's that?
Back in the alleys of NeuMoney there spins
The wily vicious and ambitious tiny devil named Jin
A stylish charismatic rebel, and a roller of dice
Came off the boat at 3 and learned "prestige" is sold for a price
And though his eyes had dollar signs, his upbringing had ensured
He'd rather earn through honest work than have his future secured
By predecessor's success... that sounds like someone I know
And here begins the Raging Ray and Jin's tumultuous show!
(Let's go!)

Hey, everybody!
Are ya feeling just a little ambitious?
I said hey, everybody!
Are ya seeking something kinda fictitious?
Blame what you gotta, shame there's not a lot of ways
This kind of tale ends well
And even though you'll see 'em in hell
Raging boys can't stop dreaming
A product of time, they tell a story with rhyme, but no reason
(Doing illegal shit? Ha-ha, could be!)

Ray's the "connect," and Jin's the silvery tongue
They raise the stakes, collect the chips, and that's how business is done
An instance of one idea where the boys laid their hands
A "rent-a-DJ" in a neighborhood where hip-hop was banned
They heard investors are plenty, a breeze if timing is right
They chose a place you could "speak easy" with the pigs outta sight
And Ray had said the Owner of the joint's a tough mark to shake
But it's a young and promising market, surely everything's jake?
Not so!
The Owner's taste in music? It was anyone's guess
He gave their vinyl a spin, but he just wasn't impressed
He showed his guests to the door, but Jin refused to resign, he said
"This other record's guaranteed to BLOW YA MIND!"
どうぞ [Dōzo]
"... the fuck is this?"
Sudden tension?
"Look."
"あれ" ["Are"]
"That's not a mix-tape, ya hit 'em with the Smith and Wesson."
So you can guess the kinda shit they were in
"I think it's time we got a wiggle on..." Ray said to Jin
"じゃね〜" ["Ja ne 〜"]

Hey, everybody!
Are ya feeling just a little ambitious?
I said hey, everybody!
Are ya seeking something kinda fictitious?
Blame what you gotta, shame there's not a lot of ways
This kind of tale ends well
And even though you'll see 'em in hell
Raging boys can't stop dreaming
A product of time, they tell a story with rhyme, but no reason

"I'll be happy when I'm successful"
Clench those teeth, boys, keep it in motion
"Nothing nice gets left for the restful"
Wretched, regal violent devotion
Smoke and noise enough to drive you mental
Drowning in emotion, sin, and fake affections
満足 [Manzoku] boys and girls, don't get resentful!
Plainly, "drive" is a train of thought with no direction!

The ideas were there, the numbers didn't see 'em starving
Yet the money was none; the gents had not a penny farthing
So open up your eyes and ears, dear players and listeners
We walk this planet free, but to ambition, we're prisoners
Y'all looking for the moral to the story, there is none
We put ourselves through mental hell cause honestly? It's fun
And as for Ray and Jin, in case you wonder where they've been
Last I heard their latest investor was a fellow named "Satan"

Hey, everybody!
Are ya feeling just a little ambitious?
I said hey, everybody!
Are ya seeking something kinda fictitious?
Blame what you gotta, shame there's not a lot of ways
This kind of tale ends well
And even though you'll see 'em in hell
Raging boys can't stop dreaming
A product of time, they tell a story with rhyme, but no reason

"I'll be happy when I'm successful"
"Nothing nice gets left for the restful"
"I'll be happy when I'm successful"
満足 [Manzoku] boys and girls, don't get resentful!
"I'll be happy when I'm successful"
"Nothing nice gets left for the restful"
"I'll be happy when I'm successful"
満足 [Manzoku] boys and girls, get the fuck on

"I'll be happy when I'm successful"
"Nothing nice gets left for the restful"
"I'll be happy when I'm successful"
満足 [Manzoku] boys and girls, don't get resentful!
"I'll be happy when I'm successful"
