The fighters sat on a mountain high
Greeted each other one dark night

"Crony, will you be my guide?"

When they arrived at her gate
They found a solid iron fence
There were heads shoved upon each stake

Grimborg pulled the locks away
Just as softly as he could
"Gentle maiden, come my way."

He took the maiden and they disappeared
Home to the house of his mother
Had he known who the maiden really was
Day became night, and night became dawn
And then courtiers encumbered the lawn

Grimborg rode to the king
"Where are the men I sent to you?"
"All those courtiers, they're all through."
My, he fought like no one

Grimborg steered his horse around
The courtiers all fell to the ground
They knew where his sword was bound
My, he fought like no one

"We ask you kindly to put down your sword
Our daughter is yours now
She will obey and you will be her lord."
Grimborg departed, the maiden on his knees
And they both settled down in peace
