I cried myself awake the other day
My girlfriend didn't know just what to say
I dreamt about a dog that I once knew
Now I think of it, I think it was about you

I've been having trouble dealing with the truth
It's like a sweet ice-cream
You bite it with a front tooth
I was a kid who hated healthy foods
And now I've grown up loving fruit
Things don't stay the same, so what's the use?

And I've been going through some changes
And I hate it so damn much
And I keep turning up my nose
To everything I used to love
And all those easy going things
They're now going so damn rough
I woke up crying about a dog
And I fell asleep crying about us

Thinking 'bout how I am quiet when
Someone says something that I can't comprehend
I know that I'm not fully educated
So what would my opinion mean?
But the more I learn, I hate it
And it makes me want to scream about
The fact that I was raised up
Having everything I need
And though I'm loving all these memories
They sometimes make me bleed
