I've never seen my father cry
Until the day his mama died
He just sat there beside her bed
Holding her hand and bowing his head

He told her he was sorry
He never shoulda left
And there were tears
As his heart confessed:

Few weeks later my telephone rings
It was him, I could tell his heart been breaking again
He said, "Son, there's something you need to know
Something I should've told ya a long long time ago

It might be too late but I hope you understand"
