Lights all shining on the mess we made

Damn the dollar, keep the change
We're broke but we're breathing

Running clean but I'm out of steam
Burning late like kerosene
And when there ain't enough to count it
Get up on the roof, you're painting houses
For as long as you can take it

Time's creeping past the quarter moon
If it takes forever, I guess we'll be there soon

At this hour there's nowhere left to go
Walk a mile in the dirty snow
Hitch a ride to the Broken Arrow

Flying past the factories
They say a new day's coming, I don't doubt it
I'm stuck on the roof, still painting houses

Tears run down, they overflow
Coming out in stereo
So turn it up a little louder
As living proof the fire ain't out yet
