The Moonshiner

Hell I've been a moonshiner
for seventeen long years
and I spent all my money
on a whiskey and beer

I go to
some hollow
and set up my still
and if whiskey won't kill me
then I don't know what will

So I go to some park
to drink with my friend
where the women oh won't follow
To see what I've spent

God bless the pretty women
I wish they were mine
their breath is just as sweet as
the dew on the vine

So let me eat when I'm hungry
Let me drink when I am dry
Little money when I'm hard up
and religion when I die

This whole world is a bottle
and life is but a dram
when the bottle gets empty
it sure ain't worth a damn.
