I caught the 4-10 train in Montgomery I climbed aboard just a feeling fine
Cause I knew I'd see my baby in Nashville at 11-0-9
I walked back to the rear of the coach I got a seat with a real good view
I had just lean back when I heard the smoke stack
And I felt that train start to move

Lord it thrills me so just to sit here and watch the lands roll by
I know there's cars and planes and different things
But give me the hummingbird line

Now I don't know what gets into me but when I hear that whistle blow
And I feel that traing surging down the tracks Lord it reaches into my soul
I heard a noise and I looked out the window but the night was black as pitch
The conducter said don't worry boys we're on the Tennessee River bridge

I see the lights up yonder of Nashville I kinda hate to see this trip end
For I love so to ride this train goodbye hummingbird my friend
