Fanatics

There's a lot of misdirection, and planned disparity
And prescriptions for protecting our benevolent creed
And there's also a lack of judgement, and various shades of gray
But a lot people think that theirs is the only way
I will never be one, I see the other side
A false sense of community, a bogus sense of pride
Stagnation of purpose, corrosion of the mind
A lingering obession, a sighted type of blind

I don't want to be so static
Life and death are far too erratic
I don't want to be a fanatic

They focus on hereafter, whatever that may be
Life is not considered in terms of quality
They say "if you don't believe this, then you'll be sorry when
You are dead and buried, and who will save you then?"
I do not believe this, it's perposterous and vain
A false sense of community, a life of endless shame

There is a place in my mind where I know I am right,
But I'm sure everyone else has their own insight

Who are the fanatics, you can see it in their eyes
They run around and preach about the things that they despise
And they are desperate for endorsement, for you to join their side
Your freedom, hopes, and dignity can all be left behind

I don't want to be so static
