I saw the words scrawled out in pen
A monument across the hall
A moment written on the wall
It said, "I love you"
It said, "I love you"

My world collapsed the night we had to part
Honey you know that I'm not quite so light at heart
And though I may seem aloof
I'm simply searching for proof
Of love

I don't believe it can exist
There's no such thing as permanence
A single point in space and time
Reflections always past their prime
Is lust a crime?

For here I've found the artifact
That proves the earth is still intact
