It's a warm summer night with my friends by my side
And I'm really glad I stayed home tonight
A few days ago I might have said I would come over
But after awhile of thinking it over I'd rather be home and sober

And who knows where I'd if I'd let myself be free
And who knows how I'd get home if something went wrong
I guess I'm too far gone with this feeling I've been working on
So tonight I'm really glad I stayed home

Tuesday seems like an odd day for a party
And you said some pretty weird things, like don't even get me started
Oh, to say I'm glad I didn't lead my heart and garden
So instead I put you in, been discarded, message deleted

And I'm so happy that I stayed at home tonight
Where guitars line the room and you hear the owls hoot
Like they always do
