The Lotus And The Mud

The Lotus And The Mud

I was reborn in chaos like a lotus flower
The darkness embraced me
I didn't know I needed love till I was
Suffocating
Oh yes

For some of us it takes time to be seated
In one of three bear's chairs before we
Find out we are Goldilocks and this isn't our home
Ego, id, and flesh, we are spirit isolated alone
Just using these bones
I was introspective in the mud, dew drops felt more like a flood
I couldn't see the morning dew but she surrounded me
Too much of anything is never sweet
The earth elements were soaked in its heaviness
The soil makes dew stick like evidence
Evidence that I've been locked down
Evidence that I'm underground
Evidence that I'm just pursued
I was a true, life uprooted me
Oh yes

Dew seems sweet when it's only drops
The sun shines on it as it glides
Down lotus leaves and evaporates into the day
My dew drops felt more like rain
Dew wasn't sweet, it was formative
It wasn't cooling, it was cold
It didn't glide, it seeped through to my pores
I could feel it grasp my ribs and shift my soul
And my breaths were pressed against it
Deep breaths were a conscious effort
Nobody saw me learning lessons
I was underground, class was in session
Oh, the leaves of my lotus flower
Pink or covered in mud, they formed
The leaves of my darkest hour
Invisible under mud, reborn
Oh yes

Have you ever been formed in the darkness
Have you ever been formed beneath the elements of earth and water?
I hope you know that you are surrounded and dew drops
They will be sweet soon, you will rise above the earth
And rest with the sun as your friend
And the water that pulls you into submission
Will be the water that cools you as your petals become the testimony
Of a word that was said before you, a flower
While you were becoming one, end it to address you now

To be a lotus flower today
Is to have always been becoming one
To be a lotus flower today
Is to have always been one becoming
Beneath the dew drops
Oh yes
Peace
