Buffalo In The Park

Buffalo In The Park

(album: What About Me - 1968)

There's a buffalo in the park
We used to go there after dark
Climb his back and peek between his arms
I don't get to go there anymore
Up the ladders and down the slope
Teeter totter, muddy water
Childish things

Between the darkness and the day
I go down to see my children play
Daytime worries never cloud my mind
I tried my best, I guess I'm not that kind
And though they're safely tucked in bed
They're still playing
In my head

There's a buffalo there to see
Just take the iron horse down to the sea
Find my thrill through the hand, the meet halls intertwine
To the clinging minstrel God who plays his little fire
To see and hear them once again
In my short span, tiny hands
Pails and buckets in the stand

klaar
