The Legend Of Buckaroo Steve (Live)

The Legend Of Buckaroo Steve (Live)

Alright
This is a new record cycle a new tour
But I still want to play some old songs
The problem with old songs is
I want to play the ones you want
And the way you want me to
Because I feel like I always get bummed
When like I go to a concert
And someone's like
"Here's your favorite song of mine and
I'm gonna totally mess it up"
But I also, if you've seen any other shows
Don't want to play the exact same show

So I decided with this one
It's important to a lot of people
It's been in their weddings
I decided with this one
I would play it exactly the way I wrote it
Which I've never done
So I'll take you back to how it happened

I'm at 1506 Paris Avenue Nashville Tennessee 37212
Don't go there
I don't still live there
I'm looking out the guest bedroom window
Which is where I wrote songs when we lived in that house
And I had this verse, I'd had it for several months
It went like this

I'll be your rainy day lover
Whenever the sunny days end
And whatever the weather
We have each other
And that's how the story will end

And that was a good verse
You know, I was happy with it
But, it's like 30 seconds
You need more than that for a song
And so sometimes when I'm stuck songwriting
I'll try to picture what the song sound like to me
Like what place it takes me to
I think in pictures a lot

How many of you guys watch Yellowstone?
I too watch Yellowstone
It is terrible
I hope we can all agree on that
No it's entertaining
But imagine Yellowstone, but a hundred years earlier
That's what I was imagining years back when I wrote this song
So I'll paint the scene for you

We're out okay
We're out in the wild west
But it's not day, it's night
Now, tonight we got a few clouds here
But on this day, there were no clouds
It was just beautiful stars everywhere
Little production value for you Atlanta
And off in the distance
In this vision
Was one lone cowboy
And he was settling in for the night
Next to his lovely fire
