Something Real

Once again it's Christmas time and the world resumes the drill
Tried to stoke the same old magic but I can't feel the thrill
Things have changed it's all so different, how am I to cope
Caught in memories so gilded, times of joy and hope
But we get older
Winter gets colder
Things don't remain the same it's only natural
Old homes are long gone; loved ones who pass on
Nothing feels the same now

But I'm not gonna let it destroy the joy that I keep in my soul
Yeah it hurts when things change but I'm choosing to focus on what I control
So I'll give it my all don't you judge me
I am making the choice to be happy
So I'll do what I need, even fake it, if that's what it takes to feel something

So I'm going through the motions, the tinsel and the snow
Anything to grab that feeling that I used to know
You can think it childish of me, overboard with lights
All the corny decorations and carols warm and bright

Sure, we are older
But now we're bolder
Things can't remain the same it's only natural
New homes we're making, steps we are taking
To forge something brand new
