The kids down the block gave up playing for slumber
I hung out a sign on my door gonna wait for the summer
The sky gets darker every day
The wind won't blow it away
I wrote a letter to the Governor

The rain started falling but it stopped in a cloud hanging over my head
It must have been mental confusion or an illusion of death
I wrote a letter to my Congressman
He said "keep on smiling"

So, I tried smiling
Hoping my troubles would go away
But I still couldn't see the suns beautiful golden rays
Breathing gets harder every day
I gotta keep running away
I stopped writing my letters
And I started praying
