My Father

My father is a very good man
Very good man I tell you
He works on a ship to pay for the things
That you always bug him for
Oh he's watching the world
He's watching the wheel
He knows that I can see him
He knows he's alright
As he sleeps on his chair
Will I go after him?

My father's in a very good place
He knows what he wants, he gets it
He sits on a throne waving around
Thinks he don't have to see

He came up and he told me
He never wanted anyone
To ever work like him

Yeah he worked on a ship for 70 years
And was not happy for it
He couldn't finish what he began
But he did right by me

My father leaves a very good name
Very complete, he's done it
He sits on his chair and drinks all his beers
Until he drifts off to sleep
