I got on the train today, I looked around
And saw so many holding pain, sit in the crowd
But still we all just look away
The city keeps its pace relentlessly

We pass each other on the street
So complicated, we're all coping with the mystery
Carry our trauma, try to quiet down our histories
And yet we're all the same thing underneath

Does it take a hurricane to unite a culture?
A fire or some other natural disaster?
Is there time to lend a hand or a favor
Instead of treating love like it hurts

But still we keep consuming thoughtlessly

Spilling oil or other manmade disasters?
Is there time to take notice of our laborers
And realize they're worth more than their work?
