Before Drakeo the Ruler would be accused by the state of California of murder and faced the possibility of a life sentence, only to ultimately be acquitted of all charges and still have to cop to a plea deal to get himself out of prison
Before Drakeo the Ruler would push past his comfort zone and team up with Drake to release "Talk To Me", an anti-love love song
Drakeo the Ruler has been one of the hottest rappers to come out of Los Angeles since his release from jail in 2020

And I think Drakeo really taps into the noir tradition, you know, of nervous music
And, you know, I interviewed him and he was like, "How am I gonna drive around in a hundred thousand dollar car with people trying to kill me? It's a nervous lifestyle"
